Episodes

Episode #469 - Oscar Talk: F1 (2025)
The only true blue popcorn film on the list. A surprise that it's nominated for Best Picture but after watching you see why. A fun and thrilling film from beginning to end.

Episode #468 - Oscar Talk: Marty Supreme (2025)
Loosely based or more accurately inspired by the real Mary Reisman, Marty Supreme is another excellent film by Josh Safdie. He's capable of getting just about any performance he needs from just about anyone.

Episode #467 - Oscar Talk: Hamnet (2025)
The story of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes after the loss of their son due to the black plague. Another extremely well made movie. I expect Jesse Buckley to walk away with the little golden man.

Episode #466 - Oscar Talk: Train Dreams (2025)
Deeply depressing and sad film. Tells the story of logger through his life and all the happiness (not much) sadness, trauma and heartache along the way. Scott cried, Joey didn't.

Episode #465 - Oscar Talk: Sentimental Value (2025)
A very well made movie. A little too much hype though. Better films could have been nominated for Best Picture in its spot.

Episode #464 - Oscar Talk: Bugonia (2025)
A remake of the 2003 South Korean film Save The Green Planet! Lots to praise here but will it win best picture or any other nominations? Realistically not.

Episode #463 - Oscar Talk: Sinners (2025)
Sinners broke the record of 14 oscar nominations with 16 this year. Joey doesn't feel it's best picture material even though he enjoyed it quite a bit. Scott feels it is. We both agree it's great though.

Episode #462 - Oscar Talk: Frankenstein (2025)
Guillermo del Toro's adaptation of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein is as beautiful as it is a masterpiece. There isn't much wrong with this film but will it win Best Picture? We don't think so unfortunately.

Episode #461 - Oscar Nominations (2025)
We talk about all the Oscar nominated films for 2025. What will win, what will not. Who's right?

Episode #460 - Society (1989)
Brian Yuzna's 80's horror classic wasn't released in America for nearly 3 years. I can see why people were afraid to show a film like this as it's one of the best body horror movies to come out in that time period. While it isn't perfect, you should still check it out.

Episode #459 - Ultraviolet (2006)
Pretending to be a comic book wrapped in a sci-fi action film in one of the worst renditions around. The action scenes are formulaic and so bad it feels like a workprint. The story is thin and the concept is frustrating.

Episode #458 - Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls (1970)
Directed by Russ Meyer and written by Roger Ebert, a film about making it in the 70's as a rock band and all that goes with it. It tastes like the 60's so much I was looking for Austin Powers the whole time.

Episode #457 - The Lawnmower Man (1992)
Loosely based on the Stephen King short story is highly inaccurate. Director's cut is a better movie but still only average.

Episode #456 - Alley Cat (1984)
Part 70's exploitation, part vigilante, part female prison, part court drama, part karate but ALL ALLEY CAT! Not a great film by any means but damn does it hit all the "so bad it's good" vibes.

Episode #455 - Death Laid An Egg (1968)
A Giallo esque style film. Nothing really horrifying from this movie at all. Except, except for the animal cruelty. If that bothers you, stay far away.

Episode #454 - Castle Freak (1995)
When your producer says that you have creative control of the film except that it has to involve a castle AND a freak, you do it! Stuart Gordon's Castle Freak is better than you expect.

Episode #453 - Replicant (2001)
When a serial killer (JCVD) keeps killing "Bad Mothers" a secret agency decides to create a replica of him to track him down. Surprisingly not the worst JCVD movie out there. Just saying.

Episode #452 - Death Dimension (1978)
When you think Exploitation, you think films like this. Terrible acting, terribly filmed and quite honestly a plot that doesn't try too hard and it shows. Needless to say, you still kinda dig it.
